Redfrey is a game studio with a flat structure and an open-doors policy.
Our philosophy centers on mutual respect between creators and customers, built on technical simplicity and organizational transparency.
We believe that games and software should be simple, elegant, with low entry barriers. Understanding your tools is more important than using them.
Our customers are our allies, who own what they paid for.
[!] By shipping games with full source code and assets, players have the same power as developers to modify and extend our games.
Our culture is that of mentorship and guidance, and we believe that knowledge should be free (as in freedom, but also as in beer), but we expect you to create your own path.
Anybody can join Redfrey. It doesn't matter who you are or what your background is. However, this is an environment that fits very few people.
We're looking for people who have three core traits: autonomy, proactivity, and passion.
[!] Autonomy means you can self-direct and make decisions
without needing someone to manage you or tell you what to do at
every step.
[!] Proactivity means you don't stay idle and you don't wait for
tasks to be assigned to you.
[!] Passion means you actually like videogames. You would play
what you created even if you hadn't been part of its production.
If you need constant direction, this won't work.
We expect you to develop broad skills across multiple domains while remaining deeply expert in your main field.
Programming proficiency is a requirement for anyone to work at Redfrey, whether you're an artist, software engineer, or accountant.
We don't expect you to know everything, but you must be willing and able to learn by yourself.
Everyone goes through a 2-month evaluation period where you will determine if this works for you, and your peers will determine if you fit with the team.
